Ellen + Dave @ Guemes Island Resort

Dave and Ellen dreamed of a quintessential PNW beach wedding where all of their loved ones could stay on site and party late into the night. There were puns sprinkled throughout the entire weekend but my favorite had to be the Co-Officiants for their ceremony. We kept their decor simple and true to their style. In fact, upon meeting with them for a planning session at their home, I discovered several color-saturated wall tapestries and bright white moroccan style lanterns. We incorporated these elements into the table decor to bring a slice of home into Dave and Ellen’s wedding weekend. 155 guests were entertained with a smudge ceremony from Ellen’s grandparents to kick off their vows, appetizers and specialty pizzas, an open bar that flowed throughout the night, and an epic jam session from the house band at Seamonster Lounge paired with homemade jam from the bride’s sister.

From the Groom:

“Lauren absolutely earned five stars in each category – she was fantastic. Here’s why. It was just shy of three months before our wedding, and Ellen and I hadn’t hired a planner. Our wedding wasn’t local; it was on an island two hours north of Seattle. While beautiful, our venue had little infrastructure of its own. We needed to bring in everything: tent, stage, tables, lighting, PA, wiring, catering, tableware, live band, extra bathrooms, etc., from nearly a dozen different vendors. There were many, many moving parts to our plan, each critical. We needed help. We asked around. Lauren’s name came up, highly recommended. Having never hired a wedding planner before, we didn’t know what to expect. (Having never had a wedding before, we didn’t even know what we didn’t know about weddings.) In retrospect, hiring Lauren was the most important decision we made. We met three times in advance. She walked us through a comprehensive checklist of tasks and decisions; for the first time we had a sense of (cautious) confidence that we’d thought through the most important details. She made a number of recommendations on decorations, timing, and the ceremony that worked out brilliantly. But it was the days before the wedding and the day of that she showed off her talents in the fullest. Our caterer was being flaky; Lauren found and booked a (superior!) replacement four days before the event. Our supplier had accidentally shorted us two tablecloths – Lauren found replacements and paid for them out of her own pocket to get them on time (we paid her back). And the actual ceremony and various events that followed went off without a hitch: it was natural, smooth, and completely crisis free. She is as organized as any project manager I’ve ever met; she’s as professional and cool under pressure as a star quarterback. Lauren can plan, prepare, and execute a complex wedding production with absolute precision — while making it look easy as pie.”
